Looking for a BestSelf Intimacy Deck alternative?
The Intimacy Deck is one of the best-known conversation decks for couples, and it is more generous on volume than we are: 170 questions across seven topic categories. The difference worth deciding on is not how many questions you get. It is what the deck does when one of you does not want to answer.
The short answer. If you and your partner both find it easy to be open, and you want the largest set of good questions you can buy today, the Intimacy Deck is a strong buy.
If one of you tends to go quiet under pressure — or if the reason you are shopping is a specific conversation you keep failing to have — a deck that treats declining as a normal move rather than a lapse of nerve will get further.

Where the Intimacy Deck is the better choice
- Sixty-two more questions, and seven categories to roam around in.
- It is proven. Years of couples have used it; it turns up in most round-ups of this category for good reason.
- You can have it this week. We cannot sell you anything until 1 October.
- Encouraging vulnerability is not a flaw. For couples who are already safe with each other, a nudge to push through the awkward bit is often exactly right — and our design deliberately gives that nudge up instead.
The trade we made
We gave up questions to buy permission.
Most decks in this category sell depth: the bolder the question, the better the deck. That design quietly punishes whoever is not ready, because saying “pass” starts to feel like failing the game. We built the opposite incentive on purpose. Passing costs nothing here — and in our experience people who know they can stop tend to go further than they meant to, voluntarily.
That is also why the core deck is 108 cards rather than 170. Every prompt has to earn its place against a path, and prompts that only work by putting someone on the spot did not make it in.
Meet Me Gently is attachment-informed, not therapy, and not a diagnostic tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to BestSelf Co. Their instructions are summarised here in good faith from their published product page; read it yourself before deciding.
